Trudeau attending Google Go North tech summit in Toronto today

Nov 2 2017, 9:20 pm

The second annual Google Go North conference is being hosted in Toronto on Thursday.

The full day event at Evergreen Brick Works focuses on Canada’s potential in artificial intelligence (AI), and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be speaking at the event.

Go North aims to “bring the brightest minds of Canada’s tech ecosystem together to unlock the potential of artificial intelligence.” This year’s conference hopes to unlock the power of Canada’s leadership in AI, through speakers, demos, and panels, and find how it can be used to accelerate growth across the national economy.

Last year, the inaugural Go North Summit was a first-of-its kind event. It brought together over 650 of the best and brightest minds in Canada’s tech community, and it championed Canadian entrepreneurship by showcasing, enabling and uniting the startup community to help Canada and its businesses thrive on the world stage.

Besides Trudeau, speakers this year include Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Alphabet, Google’s parent company that’s helping bring Toronto’s new tech community to life, and Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
