Woman dead after being struck by freight train Thursday morning

A woman has died after being struck by a freight train in Toronto.
According to police, a woman was struck by a train in the area of Weston and Davenport Road just after 7 am on the morning of Thursday, May 16.
As a result of the tragic incident, GO train customers were offloaded onto the TTC’s Line 1 at Downsview Park station, according to TTC spokesperson Stuart Green.
“Customers on Line 1 south of that point may see heavier passenger loads through the morning as a result,” said Green.

Following the incident, both TTC and Go train staff were on hand to manage the large crowds at Downsview station.

As a result of the fatality, GO trains were not able to run through the area for up to two hours.
