Free shuttle bus from Toronto to Canada's only urban national park starts next week

After a successful last year, Parkbus has announced they are back this summer with their free service to Rouge National Urban Park.

Not only is the bus free, but Parks Canada staff will also be on each bus and help introduce first-time visitors to the park.

And Parkbus has announced its 2019 start date and pick up schedule.

Just in time for the Canada Day weekend, Parkbus’ TD Rouge Express will be departing to the Rouge Park starting on June 29.

As for the scheduled time, it is as follows:

Morning Visit

34 Asquith Ave (Yonge and Bloor) at 9:00 am
MEC North York (near Bessarion Station) at 9:25 am
Rouge Park arrival just after 10 am
Rouge Park Departure @ 12:45 pm

Afternoon Visit

Afternoon Trip: Toronto to Rouge
34 Asquith Ave (Yonge and Bloor) at 11:00 am
MEC North York (near Bessarion Station) at 11:25 am
Park arrival just after noon
Afternoon Trip Park Departure at 3:15 pm

Note: Parkbus states that if you arrive at Rouge on the morning shuttle (10 am arrival), you must leave with 12:45 pm departure.

The service is free, although a credit card deposit will be required at the time of registration. Reservations can be made on a first-come, first served basis, says Parkbus.

There are also no park fees for Rouge National Urban Park itself.

The TRCA describes the Rouge Park as a place that provides “a continuous ecological corridor in the Toronto Area: combination of natural, cultural and agricultural features including 1,700 species of plants and animals, over 10,000 years of human history, along with some of the best remaining wetlands, forests and agricultural lands in the Greater Toronto Area.”
