Don Valley Parkway to be closed ALL weekend for annual spring maintenance

The Don Valley Parkway is closing down this weekend.

Yes, the entire Don Valley Parkway will be closed in both directions from 11 pm on Friday, April 20 to 5 am on Monday, April 23 for annual spring maintenance.

The closure was originally supposed to take place last weekend but was postponed due to the weather.

A number of repairs will take place on DVP. This includes resurfacing the roadway, shoulder paving work, patching asphalt surfaces, and pothole repairs.

Don Mills Road, Bayview Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue and Kingston Road are four alternative routes for motorists to use during the weekend closure.

The city is encouraging the public to consider using public transit as an alternative to driving when possible. If you plan to use transit, make sure to plan for the weekend Line 1 subway closures and streetcar diversions.

The city will also be implementing timing changes to traffic signals to enhance traffic flow on nearby routes, coordinate other construction to prevent major work taking place along parallel routes, and provide real-time traffic information on the city’s overhead signs to mitigate traffic congestion resulting from the closure.

Drivers who would normally use the Don Valley Parkway should, however, allow extra time to get to and from their destinations during the closure.
