'Heavy' delays on portion of Highway 401 after fiery tractor trailer crash

A portion of Highway 401 is closed following a fiery collision involving four tractor-trailers Thursday afternoon.

According to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, the eastbound lane of Highway 401 is partially blocked off near Highway 407.

Police say four vehicles were involved, and the drivers only suffered minor injuries.

Photos of the collision shared on Twitter shows one of the tractor-trailers extremely burnt after being engulfed in flames.

Schmidt says one right lane on the highway is open for traffic, while crews clean up debris.

However, police say there is “heavy delays” in the area, but the highway should be fully reopened within the hour.
