The CNE is planning to return this summer

The CNE has announced its opening dates for the 2021 summer season.

Though the event was cancelled last summer due to COVID-19, the annual event is set to return from August 20 to September 6, 2021.

“The team at the CNE is busy planning the 2021 fair, keeping in mind that we are subject to Public Health Guidelines and Government stipulations,” Karen Lynch, Director of Marketing & Communications at the CNE, told Daily Hive.

Back in May, the CNE had announced its cancellation for its 2020 festivities, being its first ever closure since World War II, where the grounds were transformed into a centre for the Canadian Armed Forces from 1942 to 1946.

This past summer, the event took a virtual approach instead, creating CNE at Home, a way for attendees to experience the fun at home through shows, food recipes, music performances, and more.

It ran from August 21 to September 7.

Though the news is still dependant on provincial guidelines closer to the date, the possibility of an opening is exciting enough.
