Vegan activists protesting Toronto’s hunter-gatherer restaurant Antler are outraged after Chef Michael Hunter responded by butchering a leg of deer in the front window of the Dundas West restaurant.

Animal rights activist Len Goldberg, live-streamed the incident which occurred on Friday, March 23 during peak dinner service. The video on Facebook has now been viewed nearly 20,000 times.

At one point Toronto Police can be seen entering the restaurant for a few words with the Chef before leaving without comment to the spectators outside.

Fellow protester Marni Jill Ugar posted to Facebook a timeline of events noting that Hunter later returned to eat the now cooked meat in the window as protesters looked on.

Known for its menu featuring foraged ingredients and game meats celebrating “the wild culinary delights of Canada,” the restaurant has been the target of a number of protests organized animal welfare groups in recent weeks.
