Canada Post has temporarily stopped delivering mail to two Toronto apartment buildings over residents not wearing masks indoors.

A media relations spokesperson confirmed to Daily Hive that the company had suspended service to two buildings on Graydon Hall Drive over employee safety concerns.

According to Canada Post, some residents of the North York buildings have not been wearing masks in indoor areas that delivery workers must access.

“This situation is a safety risk, and we have advised building management,” said Valérie Chartrand.

“Wearing masks in public areas is recommended by public health authorities and is a common courtesy to others, especially those working to provide a service.”

Service will resume “once it is safe to do so,” Chartrand said, noting that residents are able to pick up their mail at 70 Wynford Drive in the meantime.

Canada Post has previously suspended service to two other buildings in Toronto over concerns about tenants not wearing masks.

“Throughout the pandemic, our top priority has always been to ensure we are doing everything possible to keep our people and the communities we serve safe,” Chartrand said.
