Toronto's new skating trail under the Gardiner announces official opening date

The highly anticipated Bentway Skate Trail located under the Gardiner Expressway has announced its official opening date.

The Bentway Skate Trail will officially open to the public on Saturday, January 6 at 11 am with special events planned all weekend long.

Opening weekend festivities include live musical performances, demonstrations of Ice Breaking, which is a unique hybrid of break dancing and freestyle ice skating by the Toronto Ice Skate Group, art installations, food and drink, music throughout the day from the best of Toronto’s DJ scene, pop-up curling, and FREE admission to Fort York National Historic Site.

Ongoing winter programming at the new skate trail will include free Monday night skate rentals, Friday night skate parties, and Ice Breaking Workshops.

There will also be skating village that will house the skate rental shop, warming stations and a variety of seating options.

On weekend evenings, skaters are invited to warm up in the Strongbow Lounge, which will be serving up Strongbow Apple Ciders and other Molson Coors products. There will also be food trucks available serving hot food, warm and cold drinks, and desserts.

So mark your calendars folks, this is one party you won’t want to miss.
