Celebrity chef Akira Back opening his first ever Canadian restaurant in Toronto

Celebrity chef Akira Back is opening his first ever Canadian restaurant in Toronto.

The eponymous restaurant, Akira Back is going in at the Bisha Hotel Toronto and is a partnership with Toronto hospitality heavyweights Hanif Harji and Charles Khabouth of ICONINK.

Known for his inventive menus featuring a blend of Korean-Japanese cuisine, Back is the celebrated chef behind restaurants in Las Vegas, Singapore, New Delhi, Jakarta, and Seoul, as well as scheduled openings over the next couple years in Dubai, Bangkok, Vietnam, Dallas, and San Diego.

In a news release, Back describes Toronto as “a cultural epicentre with a diverse and multi-cultural food scene, which is why I always hoped to have a restaurant here…” He’s not alone. “The menu will feature a number of my signature dishes along with some new ones that were inspired by my time spent in the city.”

The incoming restaurant from Back is one of four dining concepts from ICONINK going in a the Bisha Hotel Toronto. The boutique hotel boasts 44 stories, 96 luxury hotel rooms, a 2,200 square foot lobby bar (avec patio), a 24-hour café, and a 44th-floor rooftop restaurant with an infinity pool.
