President Donald Trump has been impeached for the second time

House Democrats have voted to impeach President Donald Trump for the second time, making him the first president in US history to be impeached twice.

Trump was charged with a single article, “incitement of insurrection,” after failing to condemn his supporters for their violence at the Capitol in Washington, DC, last week.

The resolution was passed 232 to 197.

Ten Republicans voted to impeach the president.

This impeachment process will differ from Trump’s 2019 impeachment around the Ukraine investigation, because the Senate trial is expected to occur after Trump leaves office.

The second impeachment of Trump does not remove him from office; he will still be able to run for the presidency again in the future.
