What to eat in and around Seattle today: Donburi Station

Apr 30 2020, 6:12 pm

You’re going to want to hop on the flavor train because its next stop is Donburi Station.

Donburi translated to English means rice bowls, while the spot pays homage to the unique charm of Georgetown’s brick walls, railroads, and industrial environment.

Donburi Station is one of Georgetown’s newest hotspots, which serves up soups, salads, appetizers, and sixteen types of rice bowls.

Start your order with one of three miso soups.

The restaurant serves up traditional miso soup for $1.75 and nameko miso soup with mushrooms and scallions or asari miso soup with manila clam and scallions for $2.75.

Then, pick a side. We love the veggie croquettes and chicken karaage, although you can’t go wrong with picking edamame, inari sushi, or gyoza.

Although their salads are light and refreshing, we suggest skipping them and jumping right to the good stuff: the donburi.

Those looking for fresh fish can choose between chirashi, sake donburi, aburi sake donburi, zuke maguro donburi, or three types of poke.

If you’re looking for a fried option, go with chicken katsu donburi or tonkatsu pork donburi. Donburi Station even offers a mixed katsu donburi which gives you the best of both.

Adventurous eaters can pick the unagi donburi, a broiled freshwater eel bowl, or stick to the grilled beef short ribs bowl. Vegetarian and vegan eaters can enjoy two types of tofu bowls, either tofu poke or tofu teriyaki donburi.
