Dave Grohl superfan Pat Finnerty hosted what he called a “Grohlathon” on Monday, which had a goal of getting Dave Grohl to join in and sing Sting’s line from Dire Staits’ “Money For Nothing.”

With Instagram followers coming and going over a few hours, those who’d stuck around in the ninth hour were treated to a surprise, as actor Andrew Sikking requested to be in the livestream. (Sikking ended up being in the same room as Grohl, who was the one behind the phone.)

“Coronavirus has been making our lives so weird that I’ve been doing this Instagram show for like…five months,” he explained to Grohl on his Instagram Live while putting away a cardboard cutout of the Foo Fighters artist. He explained that the Instagram show started out as an hour-long gig to cure his boredom where he’d learn cover songs and then perform them in under an hour.

The Grohlathon quickly went on to become a jam session, with Grohl looking equally as hyped as the two discussed tunes and lyrics that wouldn’t be able to be made these days.

Grohl also shared some old tour stories and kept lively conversation for all of the many viewers.

Check out a recording of the livestream below:
