It’s not clear why so many Southern-inspired eateries have opened their doors in the Portland metro area. Just kidding, Southern food is amazing, so it’s great to have many options available to us.
Not only do we have some of the best Southern cooking outside of the actual South itself, but the folks we do have whipping up the Cajun fare are doing so with the utmost respect for the roots of the food and with the attention to detail true gastronomy genius takes.
One of these beloved eateries in Portland is Clinton’s Kitchen, a small, bright red unit, packed with flavors and love for this regionally inspired food.

This food truck brings a whole lot of lovable eats to the table with their mainly Southern-focused menu. You couldn’t be blamed if you spent a hundred dollars on a mountain of deep-fried pickles, or okra, or po’boys. It’s a heavenly experience that will transport you to the South via your tastebuds.

The menu is beautiful, but it’s the Gumbo Fries that truly takes the cake (or should we say takes the cornbread). This dish is exactly how it sounds and is a million times better than you could even imagine.
