Get ready to pay more for parking fines and traffic violations in Montreal.

According to CBC, the City of Montreal will be increasing fine prices for double parking, blocking traffic, and stopping your vehicle in reserved areas.

Fines for parking violations in a designated spot for individuals with disabilities will increase from $149 to $300.

Tickets for double parking and blocking traffic will go up from $40 to $60.

Fines for all other infractions will increase by at least $9.

In January, the City announced it was planning a price-hike for fines. Montreal’s parking violation fees have not increased since 2009.

In the 2018 municipal budget, the city says it will collect $206.6 million from parking and traffic tickets. This amount is up $11.7 from last year’s budget.
