Quebec announces 1,008 new coronavirus cases and 114 deaths

There are now 29,656 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Quebec, a jump of more than one thousand cases from Friday.

A total of 1,008 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus were reported Saturday. Health officials also noted 114 new deaths, bringing the overall death toll to 2,136.

There are now 1,738 people in hospital (an increase of 22 from Friday), with 222 of them in intensive care (increase of 4 from Friday).

Nearly half of all confirmed cases of the virus have occurred in Montreal region, as the number of cases reaches 14,599.
