These airlines require passengers to wear face masks

A number of airlines in Canada, the United States, and Europe have implemented a mandatory face mask policy, effective for both passengers and staff.

Canada’s arrangements took effect on April 20, when the Minister of Transport, the Honourable Marc Garneau, announced measures requiring passengers to have a non-medical face mask that covers both their nose and mouth.

Additionally, all passengers aboard flights arriving at or departing Canadian airports are required to prove that they have the necessary non-medical face mask or face covering during the boarding process.

A number of American and European airlines are also implementing similar policies.

Starting on May 4, Delta Airlines, JetBlue, and United will make face masks mandatory for employees and passengers. This applies to club areas, boarding gate areas, jet bridges, and the duration of the flight.

While it’s encouraged that customers bring their own, Delta and United say that they will have masks available for customers who do not have any.

Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines, which operate out of Europe, will also make face masks mandatory as of May 4.

The policies for Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines will come into effect on May 11.
