Porter Airlines extends flight suspension until August

Porter Airlines has once again pushed back the date it hopes to return its planes to the skies.

In a notice posted on its website, the airline said it would be deferring its resumption of flights until August 3. The previous restart date was July 20.

“We want to see our planes in the sky as soon as possible and are actively working to prepare for our resumption of service,” the statement reads.

“However, the ongoing uncertainty presented by government travel restrictions, including border closures, is impacting our ability to operate flights.”

Porter said it would be “closely watching” any developments. When its service does resume, the airline noted that it would be introducing enhanced health and safety measures.

As a result of this most recent flight suspension, Porter said it would waive change and cancellation fees on all fares and vacation packages booked until August 3.

Porter planes have not flown for nearly 15 months. The airline first suspended operations on March 21, 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic began.
