The Montreal election is right around the corner and the race between candidates Denis Coderre and Valerie Plante to become Montreal Mayor is closer than ever.
Both Coderre and Plante have made a lot of promises during their campaigns. And since all these promises can be hard to keep track of, we’ve narrowed down some of the biggest ones that Coderre and Plante say they will commit to if they are elected as mayor.

- Add 147 buses by 2020
- Build a new garage for metros near Cote-Vertu
- Complete the Blue Line extension by 2025
- Create 50 km of new bike paths per year in Montreal
- A $4 million program to support construction of green and white alleyways in Montreal
- Adopt two new housing programs to create more co-operative and non-profit housing and facilitate home ownership for families- build 5,000 new affortable housing units by 2021
- Compensate shop owners and merchants impacted by construction and roadwork
- Establish a new plan to reduce homelessness
- Build a new sports complex in Lachine

Valerie Plante and Projet Montreal:
- Build the $6-billion Pink metro line
- Make all metro stations universally accessible by 2030
- Repeal the pitbull bylaw to focus responsibility on dog owners
- Establish a bike expressway to make it easier for cyclists to get downtown
- Transform the secret Mount Royal pool into a park for families
- Build 12,000 new affordable housing units over the next four years
- Compensate shop owners and merchants impacted by construction and roadwork
- Reimburse the welcome back tax
