The Quartier des Spectacles’ public square, Place des Festivals, has gotten a little bit brighter with the arrival of the 10th edition of Luminothérapie.
This year’s edition, Pop!, is a celebration of five fantastical creatures that aim to light up the city during the dark days of winter.
Because if anything can lighten up our bleak winter, it’s Luminothérapie, Quebec’s largest temporary public art installation.

Like last winter’s musical dominoes, Luminothérapie aims to “spur creativity in the design of urban installations and digital art,” according to its website.
Pop! is created by Gentilhomme, a Montreal-based multidisciplinary creative studio that specializes in the creation, direction, and production of interactive films, experiences, and installations.
This year’s edition features five dancing, illuminated tube creatures, POPO, POPUP, POPLI, POPETTE, and POPOTIN, who will be dancing and shining nightly until January 26 (from 5 pm to 11 pm, weather permitting).
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the illuminated creatures at Place des Festivals, here’s how they look on the ‘gram.
