Let’s keep our heads up and pay attention while crossing the street, okay? That’s the first thing we’re ever taught in regards to road traffic. Thanks to some quick feet by a Montreal bus driver, a horrific accident was avoided last week in Outaouais.
The Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) posted a video to their Facebook page that shows a bus driver narrowly missing an unsuspected pedestrian who crossed the road with his head down, walking straight through a red light.
The bus driver slammed on the breaks with what looks like only inches to spare.
Perhaps following the cyclist before him, the pedestrian made no attempt to look up and check his surroundings. The bus clearly had the right of way and luckily one of the two were paying attention.
The STO urged citizens to respect the importance of signalization, especially at busy intersections and to avoid distractions while crossing the street.
