The ingredients are simple: campari, gin and vermouth.
The negroni has earned its spot in the pantheon of classic cocktails; it’s sweet, tasty and smooth. From June 4 – 10, the alcoholic drink will have a full week devoted to its flavour and class.
Thousands of bars all over the world take part in Negroni Week which is celebrating its 5th anniversary in 2018.
Every bar that participates to the cause donates a set amount of money to a charity of their choice before launching into a week of pouring and stirring.
Various bars, pubs and restaurants in Montreal have joined the Negroni Week fundraiser. According to the Negroni Week website, the event has expanded to over 7,000 locations around the world and has raised a collective $1.5 million dollars for their respective charities.
The classic negroni is stirred in a shaker full of ice with equal parts gin, sweet vermouth and campari. It’s traditionally served in a chilled old-fashion glass with an orange slice as garnish.
