Legault expected to announce updated COVID-19 restrictions today

Mar 3 2021, 3:20 pm

Quebec Premier François Legault is scheduled to give a COVID-19 restrictions update at 5 pm today.

According to the premier’s schedule, Legault will be joined by Quebec’s National Public Health Director Dr. Horacio Arruda and the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, in Montreal.

It’s unknown what Legault and co. will announce, specifically which restrictions will be eased or increase, but the announcement will pertain to news that will take effect March 8.

On Tuesday, Quebec health officials reported the lowest daily COVID-19 increase since September.

Dubé told reporters on Tuesday afternoon that he is scared about the spread of the new variants in Quebec, specifically in Montreal, that has been hit the hardest by the coronavirus and its variants.

Last week, Quebec allowed movie theatres, arenas, and indoor pools to reopen, a move intended to offer more activities to children and parents on March Break.

Daily Hive will provide an update on Legault’s forthcoming announcement as soon as new details are announced.
