Summer means ice cream and luckily for us, Montreal is filled with amazing ice cream parlours that serve the craziest yet most delicious flavours.

Since it’s sometimes difficult to pick only one, we compiled a list of the most intriguing ice cream flavours in the city and where to snag them.

LES GIVRÉS

Les GivrĂ©s literately means that they are “out of their minds” and we can say with conviction that the owners are when you know they are serving a “corn roast” ice cream at their new Masson Street location. This ice cream flavour contains real corn and is meant for us to remember the summer corn season. While you’re at it, try the Bagel ice cream also – cream cheese, sweet bagel bites, and strawberries!

DALLA ROSE

Dalla Rose is one heck of an ice cream joint. Everything on-site is fresh and homemade. Earlier this spring they were serving a Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream. These days, you can enjoy a Vegan Matcha Coconut Scoop on a gluten-free cookie which is one of the most delicious flavours this summer!

CA LEM

Ca lem means ice cream in Vietnamese. This new counter in NDG is owned and operated by a Vietnamese family that loves their ice cream. Most of their flavours are inspired by Asian culture but there most intriguing type is their “black” ice cream that contains black sesame and coco ashes.

MR CRÉMEUX

The happy ice cream truck of celebrity chef Martin Juneau is everywhere this summer. You can find their ice cream truck in the Old Port, all summer long, as they will be parked at Quai Jacques-Cartier every day. Right now, they are offering a prune sorbet, which is not only a rare flavour, but also super refreshing and yummy.

KEM COBA

Kem Co Ba is a summer-must in Montreal. Husband and wife, Vincent and Ngoc, operate this small shop. The permanent line up is always worth the wait, and if you didn’t already know, the twitter handle @kemcobaline is a local sensation. It’s updated multiple times per day and shares the approximate wait time at this infamous Mile-End hot spot. They serve a daily soft ice cream, and funny flavours inspired by the 50 United States: La The Floridian, The New Yorker, etc.

MARCHÉ LA PANTRY

This cute indoor/outdoor counter in Saint-Henri serves a lot of deliciousness, but the one we are most interested about this summer are their decadent vegan ice cream flavours of LaCrem. Try the rose-infused white tea flavour on a waffle and you’ll be licking your lips for a while after.
