So much for that brief period of sunny weather in Montreal.

Hopefully, you didn’t pack away your umbrella and rain jacket just yet, as you’ll be needing it for the next few days.

Environment Canada has recently issued a heavy rainfall warning in effect for the Metro Montreal to Laval area.

The rainfall warning includes the following areas:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

According to the release by Environment Canada, between 25 to 50 millimetres is expected through Friday morning.

The statement also warns of “localized flooding in low-lying areas” and citizens are being cautioned to watch for possible washouts near smaller moving bodies of water (rivers, creeks, etc).

As always, make sure to be cautious of driving conditions in less-than-ideal conditions and make any preparations ahead of time to optimize travel.
