The National Post is blaming a “misattribution” in its wire service, after tweeting a photo meant to accompany a story about former player Donald Brashear.
The tweet referred to a story that first appeared in Le Journal de Quebec, which reported Brashear is now apparently working at a Tim Hortons in Quebec.
However, it was the photo that accompanied the tweet that quickly became the topic of conversation — as it was not Brashear in the photo, but rather another retired NHLer: Georges Laraque.
Social media users were quick to point out the mix-up.
Good job everyone. pic.twitter.com/hpBHb5B3IK

Among those who called out the paper for its mistake was Laraque himself.
Hahahahaha do all black mans look alike???? Can someone tell them I have braids and Brash a shave head! Hahahaha https://t.co/hCIT2jx7tK

In the end, the National Post apologized on Twitter, blaming the mix-up on “a mistake in the photo’s caption for our wire service.”
Hi Georges, we’re sorry for the misattribution, there was a mistake in the photo’s caption from our wire service. The photo has been changed. https://t.co/gEWCqT7xRp
