Following the guidelines handed down by Quebec health officials on Thursday, the Casino de Montreal has closed its doors due to safety reasons surrounding COVID-19.

Regularly open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Casino de Montreal confirmed on its website that the closure is a “government decision that will remain in place until further notice.”

The Casino de Montreal – the largest casino in Canada – employs 2,800 staff members and spans multiple levels with 3,200 slot machines, over 115 gambling tables, four restaurants, three bars, and a cabaret stage.

The casino, which opened to the public in 1993, did not provide a timetable for when it will reopen.
