While the combination of rain and mild temperatures is expected to accelerate the melt of snow, Environment Canada says “localized flooding in low-lying areas” remains a possibility.

The alert, issued at 8 am, is in effect for the following areas:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

Environment Canada urges citizens to continually monitor weather alerts and updates throughout the day.

On the bright side, Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny with temperatures hovering above 0ºC.
