Bianca Andreescu endorsement deal now a bargain for Canadian vegan restaurant chain

Buy low, sell high.

Canadian vegan restaurant chain Copper Branch isn’t selling, but they certainly bought low on Bianca Andreescu.

In what has to be described as a steal of a deal, the Montreal-founded company signed a one-year endorsement deal with Andreescu earlier this year for a reported $50,000.

Andreescu was ranked 23rd in the world at the time and had just won her first career WTA tournament at Indian Wells.

“Considering Bianca’s athletic potential, talent and determination in her sport, this collaboration with Copper Branch was an obvious fit as it coincided with the brand’s inherent values in always offering its best in a competitive environment,” said Generation Agency associate Pierre Gagnon back in May.

Good timing, as less than four months after they made the partnership public, Andreescu won the Rogers Cup on home soil in Toronto, then became the first Canadian ever to win a Grand Slam singles title at the US Open.

If you didn’t know her name two months ago, you surely do by now.

Andreescu also has endorsement deals with Nike, BMW, and Head – but the price to renew those deals surely has gone up.

 

After entering the year with a career earnings of just $215,888, 19-year-old Canadian has made over $6 million in prize money this season – earning $3.85 million for the US Open title alone.

Case in point, Naomi Osaka, who went from relatively unknown to US Open champ in 2018, made $16 million in endorsements in one year according to Forbes – nearly double the $8.3 million in prize money she earned during the same time period. She’ll likely earn even more when next year’s rankings come out, after signing a $10 million deal with Nike.

Sloane Stephens seemingly came out of nowhere to win the 2017 US Open. She made $5.5 million in endorsements in the last 12 months – more than the $4.1 million she claimed in prize money.

Andreescu might not reach those levels in endorsement deals right away, but she’s already become a media darling, not short on personality during a whirlwind of interviews since winning in New York.
