You wake up, shipwrecked on a lonely desert island.
All you have with you is a waterproof bag of weed and rolling papers — both unsullied by the ocean waters — but you’ve never rolled a joint before.
What are you going to do?
The answer is not to let this nightmare scenario ever happen to you by simply knowing how to roll a joint in the first place.
As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. And whether you have access to the former or the latter, Grow has made a simple guide that will have you spinning spliffs from your stash in no time.
It’s a pretty simple list of key items:
Take your cannabis and grind or cut it up into small pieces. If using a grinder do not bust it into too fine a powder (if you do it’ll be fine, but it’s not ideal). You want the flower to be broken into a small consistent size.
Cut the cardboard into a small strip, somewhere between a quarter and half an inch.
Now, there’s some disagreement on the actual best way to roll a joint, but needless to say, this is definitely the one and only way and all other ways are wrong.
Take one of the papers and hold it between your thumb and middle finger. Make sure to have the fold facing down. The sticky end will be shiny, so make sure it’s pointed towards you, as you’ll need to lick it to seal it at the end — but not yet! Patience is key.
Sprinkle your weed evenly across the paper and use your finger to squish it down.
The only tricky part is the actual ‘rolling’ portion. Move the paper back and forth between your fingers. The goal is to roll the cannabis inside into a tube shape that’s a consistent shape from stem to stern.
Once you’ve got the shape you need, roll the edge of the paper tightly up with the cannabis, creating something that very much looks ballistically similar to a cigarette. If you’re happy with how it’s turned out, lick the glue and roll it right to the very end.
You’re almost there. Breathe. You just need something to grip onto.
Take the piece of cardboard and roll it into a spiral and put it into one end of the joint. This provides a ‘filter’ that you can hold onto.
Congratulations, you’ve done it!
Sure, you’re trapped on an island with no food, water, or shelter, but at least you finally learned how to roll a joint.
Now, starting a fire is up to you…
