Edmonton Police are reminding motorists to drive with caution after a number of cars slid into a ditch on Whitemud Avenue, and worker was struck by a car this afternoon.

Police say just after 12:30 pm today, a worker was putting out traffic cones while responding to several vehicles that had slid into the ditch on Whitemud Drive Westbound at 17 Street.

A passing driver then allegedly struck him with their side mirror, causing the worker to suffer injuries to his arm.

Police say the worker was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle has been charged with driving at unreasonable speed, according to law enforcement.

Due to the high volume of cars sliding into the ditch on Whitemud Avenue, police are reminding drivers to slow down and drive to the conditions, as well as give emergency workers room to work.
