Whitemud overpass in Edmonton hit by yet another excavator

Sep 4 2025, 10:09 pm

Traffic appears to be moving normally on Friday morning after a semi-truck carrying an excavator struck the Whitemud overpass on Anthony Henday Drive northbound Thursday afternoon.

Strathcona County RCMP said the vehicle hit the structure while travelling northbound, forcing the closure of the right lane on the Henday.

No injuries were reported, and the Sherwood Park Freeway was unaffected.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is. Back in June 2023, another truck hauling an excavator damaged the same overpass.

Social media users were quick to notice, with many pointing out the deja vu for drivers.
