'Time' ranks Edmonton company as one of the global top 250

An Edmonton-headquartered company has been ranked one of the world’s best.

Time and Statista have released their 2026 ranking of the World’s Best Companies, with Edmonton-based Stantec landing in the top 250 of the 1,000 companies included on the list.

The ranking evaluated companies based on three areas: employee satisfaction, revenue growth, and sustainability transparency.

According to Time and Statista, employee satisfaction was measured using survey data from more than 200,000 employees around the world, while revenue growth was evaluated using data from Statista’s revenue database.

The sustainability portion looked at Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data such as carbon emissions, emissions reductions, the percentage of women on a company’s board, human rights policies and corporate responsibility reporting.

With that being said, Stantec ranked 204 on the list. The company received an overall score of 83.22, an employer sub-ranking of 452, a sustainability transparency score of 141, and was rated “high” in the sub-growth ranking.

It’s not the first time Stantec has received recognition either.

In July, Forbes and Statista released a ranking of Canada’s best employers for company culture. Stantec was the highest-ranked Edmonton-area employer, landing in seventh overall.

The engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting firm was founded in 1954 and employs approximately 13,200 people.

Stantec also cracked the top 50 in Time‘s 2025 ranking of the world’s most sustainable companies, landing in 42nd place with a score of 76.62.

The company describes itself as a “global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.”

Stantec was one of three Alberta companies to make the Time World’s Best ranking. Two Calgary-based companies also made the list, with Enbridge placing 185th globally. Further down, Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) was 928th.
