If you’re itching to go skating, a beautiful trail nestled in a park just outside of Edmonton is the place to go.
Located in Sturgeon County, the Cardiff Park Skating Trail is free to enjoy and offers 1.1 kilometres of gorgeous, illuminated trails to glide through.
It’s beautiful during the day, and at night, starting at 4 p.m., lights transform the trail into a sparkling, magical winter wonderland until they are turned off at 10 p.m.

Sturgeon County
The county says that the trail is suitable for all skill levels and ages, with the smaller skating oval being perfect for people learning to skate. There are three outdoor skate tie locations with dome shelters to provide a short break from the elements. Regular maintenance is done on the trail, but it is subject to weather conditions.
Cardiff Park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; however, the park is gated and closed daily at 11 p.m.
There are no skate rentals available at the park, so you’d better pack your own in the car before heading out. Sturgeon County staff maintain the ice and will clear snow from the skating trail and walking paths before 10 a.m. If snowfall occurs after 10 a.m., snow removal will take place the following morning prior to opening.
