Shoppers Drug Mart confirms two Edmonton employees test positive for COVID-19

Two Edmonton-area Shoppers Drug Mart employees have recently tested positive for COVID-19.

In a written statement to Daily Hive, a spokesperson for Shoppers Drug Mart confirmed that two employees that have worked at three Edmonton store locations have tested positive for coronavirus.

“One worked at two Shoppers Drug Mart locations (10405 Jasper Avenue and 11120 Ellerslie Road SW) in Edmonton. The other team member worked at the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 924 91st Street SW, Edmonton,” said the spokesperson in an email.

According to the company, they are taking steps to minimize risk to the public and employees, and after additional cleaning at the stores, they have since reopened.

We are reaching out to the local public health team and have taken a number of steps to minimize risk, including increased sanitization protocols and enforcing social distancing practices in both stores,” confirmed the spokesperson.

“Team members who worked closely with these individuals are now at home in self-isolation, monitoring for any symptoms.”

There are currently 45 active cases of coronavirus in AHS Edmonton Zone, and there have been 13 deaths alongside 502 recoveries.

65,449 Edmontonians have been tested for coronavirus so far in the Edmonton Zone.
