A new Safeway location is coming to the Edmonton community this year.

Construction is currently underway on Safeway Jasper, with a grand opening slated for sometime in the fall.

Safeway, a division of Sobey’s, is one of Canada’s two national retail grocery and food distributors. The company is headquartered in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, with a regional office located in Edmonton – so it only seems natural to add its twenty-second store to the city.

The new grocery store will encompass a stunning 25,000-square-foot concept, and customers will be able to do a full-service shop at Safeway Jasper.

“Customers can look forward to an expanded selection of ready made foods, a variety of full-service offerings including meat and seafood, and a service bakery department,” Samantha Detwiler, external communications specialist for Sobey’s, told Daily Hive.

“As in all of our Safeway locations, we look to highlight local and in season products from the surrounding community.”

The store will also feature a wellness section and bulk foods.

Safeway Jasper’s location at Jasper Avenue and 122 Street NW will make the store extremely walkable from surrounding communities. However, it will also include free underground parking and free at-grade parking behind the building, giving shoppers the choice to easily drive or walk to pick up their groceries.

Safeway Jasper joins the ranks of more than 1,500 owned and franchised stores and over 350 retail fuel locations across all 10 Canadian provinces.
