Rhubarb Cafe & Cocktails, a Manchester Square spot known for its drink and dessert flights in Edmonton, has permanently closed.

The cafe announced the closure on Instagram Friday morning, saying it was a “hard decision” after years of trying to make the dream work.

“We are heartbroken to have had to make the hard decision after 5 years of trying to make this dream come true in Manchester Square,” the cafe wrote in the post.

Rhubarb Cafe opened its doors in 2022 and was well-known for its creative drinks and dessert flights, including seasonal selections like pie flights, pastry-inspired cocktails and espresso martini flights.

It had an inviting atmosphere, frequently hosting community events and gatherings.

“We are so incredibly thankful for all the amazing customers who have become friends, memories that have been shared and MANY coffees poured.”

Manchester Square has seen a few food and drink spots rotate through its Dutch architecture-inspired shopping centre in the last couple of years. Ashford House, an Irish pub, shut its doors in Manchester Square in February 2025 after just two years of operation.

New restaurants have also popped up, including Mayte, which opened its doors in February, and in May 2025, Juana Inés began serving up traditional Mexican fare.

As for those espresso martini flights, we’ll certainly miss them, that’s for sure!
