Edmonton Oilers iconic duo Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are once again working together, but not in the way you might expect.
Though the superstars have connected for plenty of big goals on the ice, they are now working together off the ice. It appears that Draisaitl and his wife, Celeste, are in the midst of building a new house, presumably in Edmonton, and they’ve employed the help of McDavid’s wife, Lauren.
Celeste posted photos to her Instagram on Monday showing that she and Leon were in the process of designing their new home. One of the photos showed that the Draisaitls are working with the Kyle and Co. Design Studio, which is founded and run by Lauren Kyle McDavid.
It makes sense that the two couples are working together on the home. Celeste and Lauren are childhood friends and married a pair of Oilers superstars who are also great friends off the ice.
The two couples also got married one year apart, with the McDavids tying the knot in the summer of 2024, and the Draisaitls exchanging vows just last summer.
Logic would dictate that this house is in Edmonton, as Draisaitl still has seven years left on his current Oilers contract. Also, the photos were posted on Monday, and Celeste posted about a facial appointment she attended in the Alberta capital earlier in the day.
Still, there has been no confirmation on whether this new house is in Edmonton and, if so, where in the city the couple is putting down roots. Nonetheless, construction on the new home seems to be progressing well, with another photo showing Draisaitl walking through the framing of the place.
There was a little bit of chatter that Draisaitl may be unhappy with the Oilers following a first-round exit in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. That, along with his no-nonsense end-of-season press conference, made it clear that he wants to see changes in the organization. Yet, this appears to show that he is comfortable settling in Edmonton and being a part of the solution.
Now, the hope among Oilers fans is that McDavid will follow suit and stick around for a while longer as well.
