New Edmonton Oilers jersey has leaked and it looks very Halloween-coded
The Edmonton Oilers will be revealing a new jersey any day now, but it appears to have already leaked online.
All 32 NHL teams will be releasing a new uniform this season as part of the league’s Hometown Remix program. The jerseys will follow a theme that will attempt to represent each city’s identity in a unique way.
The Oilers have long been reported to be using a black jersey with orange and grey accents that will mimic the style of the jersey used by Team North America during the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Those reports seemed to be confirmed earlier this month, as Oilers players wore their Hometown Remix gear in practice, showing off a recoloured logo that ditched the blue and white in favour of black and grey.
On Tuesday, it appeared that a bunch of Hometown Remix jersey designs were leaked on social media, including the Oilers. X user Jersey Nerds shared the new look, claiming it to be the final design for Edmonton’s new uniform.
With Halloween right around the corner, it seems like the Oilers wanted to fully embrace the holiday with this new colourway.

It would be easy to dismiss an account named Jersey Nerds as being an unreliable source for this kind of information, but the post was corroborated by Icethetics, which has proven to be the gold standard for reporting on NHL uniform news.
If Icethetics says it’s the real deal, it’s more than likely true, though he did say some of the uniforms may have different details.

An official reveal date for the new Oilers jersey has still not been announced. Edmonton released a coded teaser about the uniform last week, which, when unencrypted, read “Oil Country After Midnight,” once again pointing toward a darker uniform.

This will be the first time in the franchise’s 47-year history that they will don a black NHL jersey.
While a schedule for this new jersey has not yet been revealed, other teams around the league have indicated that the uniform could be worn upwards of five times this season.
