This vibrant family-owned Mexican restaurant near Edmonton serves unforgettable dishes

There’s an authentic Mexican restaurant just outside Edmonton you don’t want to miss.
In the beautiful community of Sherwood Park sits Mexico Lindo, a local Mexican restaurant serving the most authentic Mexican food you’ll see around Edmonton.
The owner, Oscar Torres, came from Mexico with a dream: to start a restaurant. Around eight years ago, the restaurant dream became a reality. Since then, Torres has been building and growing his restaurant, even buying it out from his partner a couple of years back so he could run it with his family, making this spot family-owned and operated.
Torres is prominent in the Sherwood Park community, with the business even being nominated for Business of the Year in Sherwood Park alongside Costco Sherwood Park, Manual Labour Beer Co., Rohit Group, and Royal Park Realty. This restaurant has become more than just a place to get food; it’s become a neighbourhood staple and community favourite.
And with that, let’s get into the dishes.
Delicious drinks

To start, we had the Coconut Margarita and a Mango Margarita.
We tried both, with the coconut coming out on top, as its smooth texture and little alcohol taste left us wanting two more glasses. It was to die for, and the mango was mixed with their own chamoy and tajin substitutes, which were even better than the brands themselves.
You can get the margaritas either on the rocks or blended, depending on the flavour.

And even better food

Pictured above is the humongous, extravagant Mi Rancho Molcajete, which the restaurant specializes in.
It’s a molcajete, usually made out of lava rock or some type of stone, filled with grilled sirloin steak, cecina steak, round steak, chicken, homemade chorizo, large garlic prawns, grilled green onions, jalapeño pepper and cactus, served with cheese and mild tomatillo sauce. You can also get tortillas to make your own tacos with the meats and cheese.
First things first, this author had never had cactus before. It was incredible. Especially in the tacos you can craft yourself.
Second off, all the meat was perfectly tender and fresh, the whole molcajete was seasoned to perfection, and the cheese pull… it was breathtaking.
Torres also made us a plate of their Birria Tacos, which, unsurprisingly, was one of the best things we had that day. The cheesy, greasy taco’s flavour is just enhanced with the pickled onions they add as a garnish, and it’s absolutely unstoppable.
For dessert, we had the Tres Leches Cinnamon Roll, which was absolutely showstopping, from presentation to taste. It’s presented as a cinnamon roll taking a bath in the delicious three milks, and it was soft, moist, and just a mouthful of flavour.
No matter what you decide to get at Mexico Lindo, you’ll walk out of the restaurant with a full stomach and a smile. We could not recommend it enough, so make the drive out east and visit Mexico Lindo as soon as possible!
