Edmonton’s ramen scene is booming, and it’s about to get even bigger with the opening of one of North America’s largest ramen chains.

Kinton Ramen, a Toronto-based ramen chain with over 45 locations, will open its very first YEG location in Terra Losa this year.

Kinton Ramen, known for its authentic Japanese ramen and casual dining experience, signed an Area Representative Agreement with The Labreche Group last year to open 12 outposts in Alberta over the next five years.

In addition to dine-in space, Edmonton’s Kinton Ramen will also offer its ramen, combos, and specials through delivery and take-out options.

“We’re thrilled about our growth in Alberta,” said Karalyn White, senior director of franchising at Kinka Family, the restaurant group behind Kinton Ramen.

“From our Calgary openings to the new Edmonton location, it’s exciting to see the increasing demand for authentic Japanese ramen across the province.”

Last year, White told Dished that, while the majority of its Alberta outposts will be in Calgary and Edmonton, spots including Banff and Red Deer will also be targeted.

The chain has recently opened one Calgary location, with several more on the way.
