A new Edmonton Public Library branch just opened and it’s packed with features

A new, expanded Edmonton Public Library (EPL) branch officially opened its doors yesterday in Heritage Valley, bringing a host of fresh amenities to the fast-growing south Edmonton community.
The new Heritage Valley Branch, located at 2755 119A St. SW in the Heritage Valley Town Centre, replaces the former location just across the street and is nearly three times the size, according to EPL. At roughly 10,000 square feet, the space is designed to accommodate increased demand for programs, technology and study areas as the neighbourhood continues to expand.
The expansion was made possible through city funding approved by the Edmonton City Council in November 2023.

Features of the new branch include a dedicated makerspace, a larger program room for storytimes and workshops, and additional quiet time study areas and seating. Visitors can also find an expanded collection of books, movies and other materials, while more public computers will improve access to tech and the internet.
One of the standout additions is an interactive digital wall, inspired by the large-scale installation at the Stanley A. Milner Library downtown.
Library staff say the expanded space will allow for more frequent and diverse programming, as well as increased capacity for community gatherings and educational events.
“Your exceptional experience is always our top priority, and this expansion is designed to make your time with us even better,” EPL says.
The previous branch remained open throughout the relocation process, with efforts made to minimize service disruptions.
More information about the location and available programs can be found on the EPL website.
