A southeast Edmonton leisure centre just closed until next summer

Edmontonians looking to hit the pool this fall will have one fewer option, as Hardisty Fitness and Leisure Centre is now closed for several months.
The southeast Edmonton recreation centre will be closed from Oct. 5 until June 30, 2027, while pool maintenance and upgrades are carried out.
Hardisty, which is located at 10535 65th St. NW, is one of several Edmonton pools currently closed for maintenance and repairs as the weather gets colder.

Jasper Place Recreation Centre, located at 9200 163rd St. NW, one of the City’s eight saltwater pools, is also closed for scheduled maintenance. The aquatic centre has been closed since Sept. 8 and is expected to reopen on Nov. 30.
Meanwhile, the aquatic centre at Clareview Community Recreation Centre is set to close this Saturday, Oct. 10, for maintenance and is expected to reopen on March 1, 2027.
The Clareview closure includes a $1.1-million capital project to replace the pool’s slide structure and complete mechanical and electrical code compliance upgrades. The work will also involve re-piping the system so the slide draws water directly from a fully filtered and treated source rather than untreated pool return water.
The closures mean Edmontonians have fewer options for an indoor swim this fall and winter, with the Peter Hemingway Aquatic Centre also still closed following significant flood damage from the July 10 storm.
Remediation work at Peter Hemingway is currently expected to be completed by mid- to late fall.
