New bulk refillery and cafe in Edmonton aims to reduce waste

Last year, many in the Edmonton community were devastated by the loss of Earth’s General Store, a popular organic grocery store that operated in the city for over three decades.

However, the team behind the much-loved spot has announced a new venture in the city focused on sustainable and ethically sourced goods.

Earth’s Refillery Coop is coming soon to 10831 95th St. NW, with a goal of offering “ethically sourced, high quality food and beverages at a fair price,” its website reads, while also reducing its environmental impact and supporting the local economy.

“We specialize in organic, local, fair trade and low waste products, with a bulk refillery store on one side, and a cozy cafe on the other,” it adds.

Building off the legacy of Earth’s General Store, the new coop will stock package-free bulk goods such as baking ingredients, beans and legumes, nuts, dried fruit, grains, snacks, and so much more.

While the spot is in the process of trying to open, it is also fundraising to be able to launch as quickly as possible. Those in the community are able to donate through its GoFundMe, purchase gift cards, or become members.
