Devon Levi reveals new Edmonton Oilers gear and it looks slick
The Edmonton Oilers will have some new goalies between the pipes this season.
Devon Levi and Frederik Andersen will join Tristan Jarry to form a three-goalie rotation for the Oilers. Fans will have to wait to get a glimpse of Andersen, as the Danish goaltender is nursing an injury suffered over the offseason and will miss training camp and the start of the season.
That means that Levi and Jarry will form a tandem to begin the season. There is a lot of intrigue about what the 24-year-old Levi can bring to the table after spending the last two seasons marinating in the AHL with the Buffalo Sabres organization.
We’ll have to wait until the regular season to get a better idea of his skill set, but fans got a sneak peek at what he will look like in an Oilers jersey. The Quebecois goaltender took part in the Oilers’ media day on Wednesday, where he showed off a new set of equipment for his new team.
It confirmed that the Oilers will have at least one sharp-looking goalie between the pipes.

This appears to be a different set of equipment than the set he was wearing during the Oilers’ captain’s skates last week. That set featured a mostly white colour scheme with a block of navy blue on the outside edges, which looked a bit plain and may have been a leftover design from his days with the Sabres.
It would’ve been serviceable, but it definitely didn’t take any creative liberties.

What he showed off with the Oilers on Wednesday was a much more fitting design. The base colour remains the standard white, but a large block of orange cuts into the middle and is surrounded by a royal blue border. It almost emulates the Oilers’ iconic oil drop.
The whole look comes together with his new mask, which takes heavy inspiration from legendary Oilers goaltender Grant Fuhr.

There are some changes coming to Jarry’s gear as well. He has already revealed a new mask for the upcoming season and appears to be making a drastic change to his padding as well.
When asked about why he made the change, he simply said he wanted to change things up from last season. The hope is that the new gear can help him rebound after a disappointing start to his Oilers tenure.

He arrived in Edmonton last season with a very colourful set, but appears to be going back to basics with a more minimalistic white design this year.
We will have to wait and see what Andersen has cooked up for this season.
