If you’re looking for a dining experience with a view, an Alberta restaurant has just been named North America’s best landmark restaurant.
Banff’s Sky Bistro has earned the title at the 2026 World Culinary Awards, beating out landmark restaurants across North America.
The World Culinary Awards defines the category as a restaurant that is a landmark itself or operates within one, which fits Sky Bistro’s unique mountaintop location.
Located at the top of Sulphur Mountain in Banff National Park, Sky Bistro gives diners the chance to enjoy a meal high above the town, with sweeping views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains.

The restaurant is part of the Banff Gondola experience, making it a popular stop for visitors heading up Sulphur Mountain. Along with its views, Sky Bistro serves Canadian-inspired dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients, giving diners a chance to enjoy a meal while taking in the surrounding mountain scenery.
This is the first time since 2023 that a Canadian restaurant has won the title, when Toronto’s BlueBlood Steakhouse took home the award. The Union Oyster House, located in Boston, Mass., won in both 2024 and 2025.
This isn’t the only award Sky Bistro has taken home from the World Culinary Awards. Back in 2022, it was named the best rooftop restaurant in North America.
