Alberta’s top doctor announced 356 new COVID-19 cases Friday, a number that’s in line with the rest of the week as the province’s new daily cases and hospitalizations plateau.

There are currently 269 people in hospital, including 55 in the ICU. Another three people also died of the virus in the last 24 hours, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw tweeted.

“My condolences go to the families, friends and anyone mourning the loss of someone they loved today,” she said.

She’s stepped back from daily COVID-19 briefings this week as Alberta schedules thousands of seniors to get their vaccine. Daily Hive has a guide for seniors and their families on how to sign up to get immunized.

Hinshaw reminded people not to gather indoors over the weekend. Indoor gatherings are currently prohibited; however, people are permitted to meet up to nine other people outdoors.

“Please continue to follow current health measures and help keep people safe,” she said.

Hinshaw’s next live update will be on Monday, March 1.
