Alberta reports 399 new COVID-19 cases as seniors queue for vaccines
Alberta reported 399 new COVID-19 cases and eight new deaths on Thursday.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced the latest virus numbers in a series of tweets. She’s taking a break from live daily briefings this week as the province expands vaccine appointments to all seniors age 75 and up.
It’s been nearly 36 hours since Alberta Health Services opened up vaccine appointments for seniors at large, and 100,000 people have already booked appointments.

“Thank you to those who have stepped forward so far. Your decision to be immunized will help to keep you and people you come into contact with, safe from COVID-19,” Hinshaw tweeted.
Right now there are 280 people in Alberta’s hospitals with COVID-19, including 56 in the ICU.
There are currently 4,848 active cases in the province.
