The only thing better than a long weekend is knowing where to spend them, and luckily, an Alberta spot was just named as one of the best long weekend destinations in the Rockies.
World Atlas recently released a list of nine perfect destinations for a long weekend in the Rockies, and the one and only Banff made the list.
Banff is known to draw the spotlight. It has been named one of the most picturesque destinations in the world, landed on a list of wonders of the world for 2026, and was touted as a top travel destination for 2026.
World Atlas notes the Fairmont Banff Springs as a big draw, and for good reason. The hotel offers plenty of amenities, like easy access to hiking, wildlife viewing, skiing, and its very own golf course. It was even named one of the most romantic hotels in the world earlier this month.

Banff is also full of top-tier restaurants. The list notes The Grizzly House, Bluebird Woodfired Steakhouse, and PARK Distillery Restaurant + Bar, as places to check out on your next long weekend getaway.
Aside from staying and eating, there are endless ways to enjoy your time in Banff. From hitting the slopes at the many ski resorts in the area, taking a trip to the top of Sulpher Mountain via the town’s gondola, exploring the hiking trails and amazing scenery, or relaxing at the Banff Upper Hot Springs, there is something for everyone.
Jasper was the only other Alberta spot to make the list, being noted for the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, the Jasper SkyTram, and the beauty of the Athabasca River that runs through the town.
