These 10 cities are the top party spots in Canada this year

For the second year in a row, London, Ontario, has captured the honour of ranking first on Uber Canada’s “Top 10 Partying Cities” in its annual Nightlife Index.

Compiling the data from average monthly Uber trips between 10 pm and 2 am, the ride-hailing company says people were the most out and about during those hours compared to anywhere else in Canada.

The second place medallist remained Toronto, which one would assume would be the first choice for party-goers since it’s the most populated and boasts way more offerings of world-class cocktail bars, charming pubs, and nightclubs, but that was not the case in 2022 or 2023.

But folks in Vancouver or Edmonton might find themselves surprised to learn that their cities didn’t even rank in the top five. Winnipeg took third place, followed by Halifax, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Regina.

Edmonton was seventh, and Vancouver was eighth.

Rounding out the bottom of the list, Ottawa in ninth and Kingston in 10th.

This means Calgary, which boasts such wild beer gardens during Stampede that even Prince Harry was spotted partying amongst them once upon a time, was snubbed out of the 2023 rankings.

We digress.

Uber Canada says across the country, the top partying nights of the year are New Year’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Canada Day, Halloween, and the May Long Weekend.

“If one thing can be said about Canadians, it’s that we really know how to part-EH. Even as temperatures begin to dip, our legendary nightlife scene continues to be hot and thriving, as party-goers hit up swanky cocktail bars, cozy pubs and booming nightclubs all year long,” the company said in its release.

Do you think Vancouver and Toronto should have been ranked higher? Should Calgary have at least beat out Regina? Let us know in the comments.
